Community Gardens
I'm sure we've all seen the garden on Putty Hill (near Toys R Us). But
did you know that there are more gardens in the planning stage? The extension of the
Village median
garden on Putty Hill near Towson Marketplace was completed in 2001 and now extends east of
La Salle Road. An entry garden was installed on the corner of Pleasant Plains and
Barksdale (on private property at 8100 Pleasant Plains) in 2001. Landscaping will be
added to the new "Welcome to Loch Raven Village" signs on Aberdeen Road,
Pleasant Plains near Putty Hill, and Myamby Road. Finally, the new wide medians that
have been built in Loch Raven Boulevard have been landscaped with trees, shrubbery and
thousands of flowering bulbs.
Volunteers are needed for all
Village gardens, present and future! Further information on community gardening in
LRV, as well as advice on landscaping your LRV home can be found by contacting Avery
Harden at 410-821-0770, Gretchen Sarkin at 410 828-8952, or David Nielsen at 410 821-0267.
